Poor online service

I am a big fan of Dis-Chem stores and am also a regular user of Woolworths' online delivery service. So, I was extremely excited to see the launch of Dis-Chem's online delivery option. What a disappointment! Last Sunday, I accessed the website and chose a series of items. I went through the checkout process and was disappointed to discover that there was no option on the website to choose the date and timeslot for the delivery (like on Woolworths' site). I decided to proceed, and pay by credit card, assuming that the delivery would be the next day.By Wednesday evening, it still hadn't come, so I had to go and buy the items from a nearby Clicks store. On Thursday morning I cancelled the order. During that process, it emerged that one of the items was out of stock and they had been waiting for that item before sending the order. I cannot see how you can run an effective online service without allowing the consumer to choose a timeslot for delivery and without a process for dealing with stock problems (such as contacting the consumer and offering to send the rest of the order, like Woolworths does). All I know is that 4 days is much too long to wait.
