Mix Telematics Africa (Matrix Vehicle Tracking)
Hot Spots

On Christmas day, I visited Langa township on the outskirts of Cape Town. I went there to pick up my sister who was going to be part of my mother's birthday lunch in Mitchell's Plain. I live in Durbanville and I work in the Parow area. I mention these areas because it relates to my question of why each time I enter a township, I receive a warning and often get frantic calls about my safety. While I do appreciate this zeal to give me value for my money, I would like to know on what basis is Langa deemed a dangerous area. Langa recorded 25 of cars or motorcycles in the recent police stats, while Mitchell's Plain had 400. Durbanville had over 220 and Parow district had over 360. The Cape Town CBD registered 398. Yet, in all the times I have gone to these areas, I never received a single unsolicited warning. In fact, it seems townships across the country are not the areas where most of vehicles take place, though they may end up there after the crime has been committed. Townships are indeed when it comes to contact crimes, but surely you cannot base tracking devices on murder when there is available data on of cars either through hijackings or simple.
