I had a Maxidor slam lock security gate fitted to my front door in August 2007, and last night it was crowbarred open (along with the front door) and I was burgled. The slam lock and normal lock of the gate were completely destroyed and buckled in the process.
I tried contacting Maxidor (quote number, call centre number, Cape Town branch number) this morning between 6:30am and 10am, until I eventually got hold of someone who promised to have a technician contact me within the hour.By 14:30pm I had not heard a thing. I dug out the business card of the guy who quoted me back in 2007 and called his cell, only to be told that their buy-guarantee was only valid from 2008!! I am a female living on my own, with a front door which cannot lock due to the wooden frame being ripped out of the wall, and a security gate which has been rendered useless... but is supposedly meant to be my "peace of mind"!
How can a company operate in the security industry when they are uncontactable on a Saturday morning (which I would assume to be busy days) and when their biggest ad campaign turns out to be a complete farce!! I am shocked and appalled at the lack of concern and manipulation of the big guarantee
