Multichoice
Decoder faulty

My reception on my premium DSTV (R590 a month and now R625 a month) subscription has been very very poor (I can only watch about 10 channels) for the last three months. This happened previous and it reset automatically and became clear, but not this time. I called a technician to check the reception and he found that the decoder was faulty by using another decoder. I had already eliminated my recently acquired LED tv as the cause by playing a dvd and SABC tv is fine through the aerial. On calling Mutlichoice I was told I was not insured which I did not even know was an option but which is certainly not a solution since that is a payment to an insurer to replace the product and is not a basis for a poor quality product. The call centre agent told me buying a decoder is like buying an iron which I don't agree with because decoders should have a reasonable lifespan like other TV & related accessories (e.e. dvd players) which can last more than 5 years. I believe MultiChoice should repair this decoder at their cost given the poor quality as it did not last and I paid good money for it. I've since discontinued my subscription in protest.
