I had the privilege to be invited to a year-end function at Monte Casino this weekend. However the glitz and glamour was very short lived.
Firstly: There was not enough starters for all the attendees. The chefs, assistants and waiters just replied "It's finished".
Secondly: There was no orange juice or sprite available! How a bar not have these basic beverages?
Thirdly: The security/bullies/bodyguards/Nigerians were extremely unfriendly, aggressive and intimidating. I personally got kaked out because I opened the door to go outside. Apparently going outside is a major crime and you will be attacked! Later that evening, when it was raining, we were not allowed to smoke on the patio. Monte's hired criminals forced us to go smoke in the rain. Where do you get these thugs?
Fourthly: One would expect world class food. This was sadly not the case. It was just ok. Spur would have been way better than what their chefs prepared.
I would highly recommend any company that would like to make use of Monte Casino to find an alternative (read better) venue. The whole evening was a disaster and extremely unpleasant. I would urge anybody to avoid Monte Casino at all costs!!
