In March 2013 I went to the agent Aerial and Satellite Excellence to replace a defective decoder (no picture on channel 305 and reset required constantly). The decoder was replaced with one that had no sound. I then immediately took that one back and I received a working one. On using the decoder it also had the very same fault of no picture on channel 305 and reset required constantly.
It took time for me to get irritated again with the resets and eventually took the decoder back yesterday. I was then charged R365-00 for the replacement as it was out of warranty. I cannot understand how Multichoice can replace my decoder with one that has the exact same fault and charge me (3 month warranty expired). Is this a common fault that is never repaired or was I given my original decoder with a different serial number and the fault not repaired?
I also thought the minimum warranty period was 6 months as per the consumer protection act on new and used goods.
Please investigate my issues with channel 305 having no picture from last year and act accordingly.
