I would not recommend Resin Bound Surfaces to anyone wishing to install pebble paving. Initially Cliff came to see us and came across as very professional, the website looks great. I honestly don’t think the pictures in the gallery are even their work based on the quality of the work we received. He quoted R26000 for the job and offered a R2000 discount to secure the job which we agreed to. We were not prepared to pay the full amount upfront due to previously being scammed and Cliff agreed to payments at increments of the job however he started to change his tune regarding the amount and as they had begun the job, we had no choice but to pay the extra he demanded so that the job could get completed.
Overall, the job did not look as great as the pics, but it was more or less what we wanted, and we were willing to overlook visual flaws and try and correct them ourselves. We had to wait 2 days before we could walk on it as it must set, and this is where the real problems came in. You cannot walk on it barefoot at all, it is like walking on nails and as this is around our pool area this is a massive problem, the surface is supposed to be smooth and easy on the feet.
The website states that their workmanship has a 5-year guarantee. Do not be fooled by this. As it turns out they don’t even have a 5-day guarantee. We contacted Cliff to ask him to come back and address the problem of not being able to walk on the paving and he is not interested in addressing the problem insisting that we should have listened to him when he told us we need to pay more money when in fact we paid the full original amount of the quote before his discounted amount.
We have now had someone else out to fix the work done and it will cost an additional R44000 as it cannot be repaired and needs to be completely redone properly.
