For the past 6 months or so, I've noticed something peculiar on SABC 3.
It pertains to the ad breaks.
Let me explain:
Normally, when a TV ad is complete, there is a "gap" of "blackness" before the next ad begins.
i.e.:
1) The first advert appears
2) On completion of the ad, there is a "black" gap (which lasts about a half a second)
3) The next ad begins
Now over the past few months, I've noticed that the following happens:
a) The first advert appears
b) On completion of the ad, there is a "black" gap (as usual)
c) Before the next ad begins, there is one still frame of the previous ad (this appears very quickly)
d) The next ad begins
Point (c) above is the point that was never there before.
It is quite jarring and annoying to see these quick flourishes of still frames.
Especially during long ad breaks.
I have only noticed this occurence on SABC 3.
I am by no means a broadcasting professional and even I noticed this.
Surely then, the technical professionals working at SABC 3 are also aware of this.
What is the reason for this extra frame, and why is it not begin repaired (after being that way for such a long time)?
