Called Seeff Camps Bay today - phone was picked up by a receptionist who clearly didn't understand the question "I am interested in a house on XXXX Street". Eventually asked for an agent. Got transferred to an older woman who didn't have the courtesy to give her name..just an abrupt 'Hello? "... clearly she was doing me a favour here. I asked whom I was speaking with, and eventually, after what seemed an age she ordained to tell me her name was 'Paula J' you could almost hear her thinking "why exactly are you bothering me? '
I made polite and clear enquiries about a very specific property which I am (genuinely) interested in, however Queen Paula was -bent on taking all my details. I explained I was not an agent, however that I do not give out my details - other than first name - to estate agents for fear of bombardment. Q.P's measured, professional, restrained response? She put the phone down on me whilst muttering in a pompous contrived pseudo-posh tone 'We are faaaaar too busy to bombard'
I am a serious buyer looking for information - why must I provide my personal details to this woman? Seeff have lost a customer that was delivering himself on a plate. Only in Cape Town!
