WARNING to people in N.Suburbs. On Fri, 27Sep, we viewed a house to rent from 01Nov through Lifestyle Letting. We advised the agent, Charl, that we are interested & will let him know ASAP if we can get out of current house agreement. The next day we confirmed we are definitely taking it. On Mon, 30Sep, Charl emailed the application which we completed & sent back. On Tues morning, he emailed confirming approval of application. Then sent lease agreement for signing but gave no date until when we had to sign. There were discrepancies in the standard lease agreement that Lifestyle Letting apparently uses for rentals (even though some t&c's do not apply to all lessees). We were reluctant to sign as my husband, who was out of town on training, wanted clarification & I informed Charl. We waited & this clarification was only sent on Thurs morning. Then 15min after this, we were told the house is taken as principal, Riaan Vosloo, rented it to another party. This was done without contacting us, not even a phone call! This is the service you get when owners do not use reputable, ethical agencies when leasing their homes. We are being advised to take this matter to the Rental Tribunal as we had a binding oral agreement.
