RE found us a tenant, accepted an R8400 deposit on our behalf and charged us R2700 finders fee, which we happily paid.
The Tenant called to renew the lease for 2nd year. We contacted Natasha to find out if there are any costs involved and much to my amazement she said no. We decided to check and phoned Rose herself and she concurred? On the strength of this we made a financial decision not to raise the rent. (If the'd given us the correct information we would have raised the rent to cover the costs, which we were entitled to, and paid RE with pleasure!
Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake and try to negotiate a settlement they chose to bombard us with threats and demands. The relationship broke down! and we never heard another word from them.
Our Tenant has left after 3 years and when we made a claim on his deposit RE deducted R5400.00! being their finders fee for 2nd & (to add insult to injury) 3rd year! Their feeling of entitlement is totally outrageous!
The lease was incomplete, unsigned, my inventory lost, very sloppy workmanship. I was never contacted nor asked to sign a lease renewal for the third year? so AGAIN lost the opportunity to increase the rent!
