It saddens me to find out that an independent regulatory body can get away with not doing the work that they are funded for. I had an accident that where the repair work was completed poorly. I cannot get a wheel alignment done, there is clear overspray on my car and the list goes on. A few of the items does require the expertise of an assessor. So I got an independent assessor to have a look at my car and give me a report. It took the ombudsman 265 days to tell me that they couldn't get the assessors to meet and so they cannot express an opinion over the matter. From their blatantly refusing not to even look at my vehicle they definitely do not appear to be an independent body. It is difficult to rule against a company that pays your salary. I am very disappointed that the insurance industry has allowed circumstances such as this to occur. It appears that a person has to go to court just to get a decision, never mind whether it is fair or not. I am disgusted with this situation and I hope the industry takes action against cases such as this and reprimands those who are guilty of not being neutral and unbiased.
