In August 2012 I lost my ID book. I went to apply for a new one at the home affairs in Johannesburg (Cnr Harrison and Plein str) November 2012. My lost ID only had my Western name. So in the new one I requested that my African name be added. The application form clearly stated what changes needed to be done in my new re-issue ID. I also requested for a temporary ID. I paid R380 for all this. I was told that my ID will take about 2 to 6 months u ID. My application was put in for filing to go to the Pretoria offices. On the 2cnd of January 2013 I received an sms from Home Affairs that my ID was ready for collection. I was so pleased with home affairs speedy service delivery. But when I received my ID the change I had asked for was not made. My ID came back as my original one. There was no one to be accountable or advice me. I was really disappointed and depressed by the experience. I was told by staff there that I'd have to leave my ID and they'll send it back to Pretoria. I was supposed to give them new ID photos while it was not my fault that someone did not READ or go through my application to see the specifics. I asked for management.
