My mother had just suffered a serious stroke attack. She was sent to Charlotte Mxenge for aneurysm surgery and then a week later transfer without a valid reason to Helen Joseph. In her critical condition I found her in a "left to die" state. When I inquired with the nurses at Ward 12, I was shocked to hear that she was "just brought here, we did not know what was wrong with her, the patient was not received by any particular person/doctor, we had to call Charlotte Mxenge Hospital to obtain patient details, we do not know who treated her and for what, we had to get a doctor to take over without knowledge of the patient's condition."
We are paying taxes and nurses and doctors get their monthly salaries. What more would it take for a tax paying patient and human being to be treated with care by the so called care providers. My mother, in her critical state, was transferred from Charlotte Mxenge to Helen Joseph and no one was assigned to care for her or receive her. The doctors do not commit to the care of their patients. My mother has been abused and as sick as she is, I feel that should she pass away, this set of incidents, lack of care and neglect would be contributing factors.
