City Council cut our water for 5 days without ANY warning. We got home on a Thursday evening from work to realise we had no water at all. Water cuts are common in this area with pipes being replaced etc. so we never thought anything of it. However, Friday morning with no water still, we were forced to go shower in the gym close to work. Upon returning home late Friday afternoon, we found a letter in the post dated the Thursday (same day of water being cut off) stating we are cut off until we settle the outstanding balance. The city council left us without a drop of water for 5 days. Shocked beyond belief. Access to water is a human right in this country. I thought the Western Cape services were jacked compared to the rest of the country. I can't say I am impressed. I have never had an issue like this in Gauteng. I have contacted the ombudsman to complain as my human rights were violated. Have a restricted water flow is one thing, but to have NO water at all is inhuman. Totally disappointed with the council and disgusted at the way in which they handled the payment process forcing it take days to get things sorted. Shame on you! You don't deserve the good reputation I heard you have!
