Complaint / review / scam report

I have never had much dealings with SARS, as my Tax Practitioner has always dealt with them. I have paid tax my entire working career. I have a borderline autistic son, which obviously means my medical expenses each year is very high. I have no problem, being audited, or them requesting information, and documentation. However I was caught off guard when on 4 Nov I received a call from SARS Durban after 7pm. The lady did not identify herself, and requested I provide documents. I told her that it was after hours, and requested that as in the past the request be made to my Tax Practitioner, and we would supply the documents. I am weary of any call's after hours considering the amount of in this country, and did not think I was being unreasonable. My practitioner has still not been contacted, so I decided to phone SARS in order to find out if it was a legitimate call. I was horrified to be told that yes it was, and that the person doing the audit logged my call as me refusing to provide supporting documents. This is clearly not the case as I have always complied with all their requests and will do so again. However it is disturbing that they treat taxpayers in such a manner.
