I have been subscribed to "Die Beeld" (subscription number 111899) for more than 28 years, and have never missed a payment. I was paying a month in advance and received my account from the person doing the deliveries each month. The last account I received was in the beginning of November and I paid it.
I then received an account from their subscription department for December, the amount would have paid for 29 issues at the rate I paid until November. (There will be a maximum of 23 issues in December.)
I replied and said that I am not prepared to pay for newspapers that I do not receive and will prefer keeping to the old system.
They did not respond but cancelled my subscription without any further notice.
I am not surprised that the print media are losing readers if this is how they treat loyal customers.
