Rent-A-Store
THE LEGAL OF GOODS

Having rented a small unit with Rent-A-Store, I fell behind with my rentals and was notified that my goods were to be sold. I accepted this and was told by Dimakatso that the first auction was on the 13 March 2013. As per their ledger history the account was settled on the 20 March 2013. There was an excess recouped from the auction to cover the outstanding debt with costs. Knowing this, they then went on to auction the safe with content on the 10 April 2013. The content of the safe was worth in excess of R5000 but only realized -R1000. I went to Midrand to sort the matter out with Dimakatso and was told by her that this is company policy and she cannot do anything about it. When I asked to speak to the manager she said I must go and called the security to throw me off the premises as I had no right to be there. I phoned Mr. A. Toich, one of the owners, and explained what had happened. He said it is not his concern and he could not help me. I have also notified them that there is a number of goods that were in the store but not on inventory list. Dimakatso acknowledged seeing the goods in the store at the time the inventory was made but could not explain why they were not sold.
