I have taken ou a tv licence in 2004/5 when I bought my firs Tv at the Bryanston Post Office and never got a news letter or anything from the SABC up unitl last year when i was contacted by some legal company informing me that I now owe 6 to seven thousand and I have to make an arrangement to pay it off. I asked the person to explain on how can a tv licenec that is R225 a year or atleast when i took on one came to this ridiculous/outrage amount after 4 years and I have had no correspondence whatsoever from SABC. All the agent told me is that I have to pay it or arrange for payment. At the moment I am sitting with alrge bill of more than 2000 rands that i have to pay and still up to today have had no letter or even a magazine that was sent from the SABC and I wonder if I should be paying so much even though I had no reminder or any communication from the SABC. I think this is some kind of extorsion scheme that the SABC run because any busines that one engages with financially keeps in touch with its client; it does not wait till they can milk money from their clients and send off their names to legal firms so that they can threaten them.
