An order of 2 bottles of (expensive) whisky was shipped to me via TNT in mid December, arriving in SA 29 Dec.
I paid all duties and fees in full. The package sat in customs until 16 Jan, when it was declared "Disposed of at request of sender". The sender knew nothing of this.
On complaining to TNT, the package was recovered and delivered 20 Jan. On opening, one bottle had been opened with at least 30ml missing and smelled of alcohol. No note to say why (inspection, etc). I was forced to dispose the bottle as was unsure whether it was safe to consume.
Reported this to TNT same day. To date, no one has given me any meaningful feedback. Only feedback was that the sender must make the claim. This is ridiculous - I have paid for the goods, shipping and fees in full. I have incurred the loss.
Call centre staff NEVER call back as promised and deliberately prevent me from talking to managers or supervisors.
As my nominated clearing and forwarding agent, TNT must be accountable when goods reach me damaged and spoiled.
Responder can contact me for ref number.
