Non acceptance of responsibility for damaged goods

Hi Peter,

My brother took my home roman blinds to the above establishment on 27/09/13 for dry cleaning. On picking them up on 07/10/13 we realised they were damaged and no caution was given on pick up about the damage. When I went to complain about the damage the manager told me about how the fabric is plastic and how they warn the clients before they take the goods about damages and prefer to wash instead.

The thing is no such warning was given to us as my brother would have consulted me and also if the blinds were not dry cleaned and washed instead - they still came back damaged & shrunk. The only thing they warned of is that they wont be replacing the wires in the blinds.

The establishment said SORRY but there is nothing they can do as they have a signage saying "GOODS ARE ACCEPTED AT CUSTOMERS RISK. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS THROUGH FIRE, BURGLARY OR AND ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER. THANK YOU! "

This signage doesn't speak to the dry cleaner being at fault like them damaging my goods, burning them as it happened in this instance. Peter I spent a lot of money on these blinds and it cant be right that this service provider says sorry and accepts no responsibility for this.
