All Michelin customers and BMW owners TAKE NOTE:
Michelin Pilot Sport ZP run flat tyres (275/35/ZR18) installed 2 years ago on BMW 530i (rear). 25 000km later, tyres are completely worn (centre wear and inner wear). At a price of almost R10 000, this is not acceptable.
Response from Michelin: Centre wear due to over inflation (not the case) or high speed driving (what is regarded as high speed?). This tyre is supposed to be designed for high speed driving, but it is clear that at a speed of 120km/hr and above, the tyre deformed in such a way that centre wear occurs. This is for sure a design flaw (why will you buy a high performance tyre at a high price that cannot handle normal speed?)
The other response from Michelin is that you can expect inner wear when driving a BMW (even with wheel alignment adjusted every 10 000km in this case). I would like to get a response from BMW South Africa on this statement.
Please take note of this before you decide to install Michelin tyres on your vehicle especially if it is high performance rated.
