Ryan Tyler placed an ad on Gumtree for 2 Macaw parrots for sale for R4k ad title "Talkative & Intelligent Blue & gold macaw parrots For Sale". In the ad the birds were 22 and 24 months old and his address was a Sandton address. There was only e-mail contact details available.
When he replied to my mail his location was Kimberley and the birds were 9 months old. He wanted to deliver the birds by courier - a company he uses regularly to deliver birds. When I questioned his sudden change in address and the age of the birds and offered that a friend of mine with his own courier company will collect the birds, he disappeared - never to be heard of again. Part of his mail:
I don't know if you will like to come and view the birds, but if your Schedule is a little bit tight we can arrange for delivery and transportation and within the shortest Convenient time. It would Cost you R4500 Including transportation and Delivery for Both Ezzy and Tico...
