I have always paid my Eskom account by debit order and always the amount that they invoiced me for, since moving into my house on 1 August 2007... In April of 2012 I received an account for R123000... I contacted Eskom to enquire about the obvious mistake and since then had promises to investigate and rectify... I also visited their offices and was then told by Gift in their Rayton office that the meter at my house was changed and and that they replaced the 5 digit meter with a six digit meter and that I have been short paying for a period of 2 years... Unbelieveable... I have always honoured the debit order based on the bill they supplied... Anyway, I was told not to panic as this also happened to other consumers and they will contact me in due course - heard nothing until now and was now informed by Brenda Khumalo from their accounts department that " my application was unsuccessfull and that my power supply will now be terminated... I obviously do not have R123000 lying around... so you can imagine my frustration and what my family will have to endure this winter... Eskom is incompetent...
