This is now the fourth debt collecting agency / legal firm that I am dealing with regarding alleged non payment of a TV licence. Does the SABC and such companies sell their "debtors books" to one another with the hope that the bombardment of sms's, e-mails and telephone calls will eventually force me, as consumer, to pay any amount that is being demanded in an attempt to stop the schoolyard bully tactics?
My wife took out a new TV licence in her name in about 2008 and I did therefore not renew mine, and I have not even referred to the rules of prescription as we feel that we do not owe the money demanded by them. I sent SSDA more than 7mb of documentation (including copies of affidavits sent to the previous attorneys) in an attempt to get some clarity and understanding, to no avail. It seems that they would rather just up their activities than respond to my clear and direct questions. In mid January I advised them that if they did not resolve the matter by the end of February I would take the matter further, including adding my complaint to the vast amount of other complaints already listed on your website as well as further potential legal action of my own.
