Paid Account - never resloved after 8 years

I had an outstanding account - run up by an ex. Was hounded like a criminal by MBD, I actually used to fear daylight and whenever the phone rang even though I paid per agreement.

I paid up in full. That was around 8 years ago. Since I have bought a house, and three cars - no issues. Yesterday I applied for a simple Mr Price Home store card - only to be degraded by the agent on line telling me I have an outstanding account against my name from guess who - The Company From Hell - MBD. I have no records that far back - how do I address this with these idiots?

I have seen the other complaints about them too. This is unacceptable!
