I signed a contingency agreement with the attorney in 2009. This was on the recommendation of Alan Winde of the Democratic Alliance, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. This was for a fee of 25% of the capital amount being claimed. I also appointed him as the legal agent for my deceased fathers estate. He was granted a costs order in the High Court in 2010. The case was settled in May 2011 and he proceeded to retain more than R140 000 as his fee! The capital amount claimed was R184 539, do the math!!! I also discovered that he did no work on the Estate and as a result I was removed as Executrix and the Estate sat like that for more than 4 months until I found out! I have reported both these incidents to the Cape Law Society, they could not reach a consensus of agreement on the fee matter, and could not find any wrong doing on the matter of the Estate!!! I also contacted Alan Winde as surely they had a responsibility as they had recommended him??? no I also contacted the Premiers Office and the Provincial Department top be basically told tough luck! I then gave him an opportunity to rectify the matter about 8 weeks ago, and true to form nothing has happened
