I am being harassed for the payment of a TV Licence reportedly taken out in 1998. I have never purcghased or owned a TV set. At the time I am supposed to have purchased a set I lived with a partner who had three TV's and had a TV licence. Every two years the SABC seems to appoint a new set of debt collectors and the problem starts all over again. I corresponded and submitted affidavits to the previous firm and they promised to sort it out with the SABC. I heard nothing further until now when SSD took over. I called them and was told to get a SABC cancellation form from the Post Office. I went to the Post Office, the lady behind the counter has never seen a SABC cancellation form and laughed. She is having the same problem since 2008, has submitted cancellation forms and affidavits and still it continues. Another person in SSD's call centre told me to submit an affidavit. I did so, no acknowledgment, just further demands. The police sargeant lady wished me luck, she is having the same problem. Have phoned asking to speak to management at SSD, they will not put you through there, only to the call centre. Each agent has a different story and some are difficult to understand.
