Do we know what we are paying for in hospitals

I took my son to Trauma in Entabeni Hospital in Durban on the 25/12/2012. He had breathing problem like asmathic. When we got to hospital he saw the DR and was nebulised for 10mins then refered to the Xrays to check what really wrong with his chest. At Xrays I had to pay R300 cash said to be surcharge for holiday. I paid it and he was attended to. When finished we went back to the DR for consultation he advised he had chest infection but nothing too serious. We must just monitor what he eat and where he plays as he must be allegic to something. 3 month later I recieved two bills one from Lake, Smith & Partners for R357.10 and the other from Drs Dorfling/Ogg/ Vurden for R508.50 for consultation and nebulisation (In rooms). The reason for this medical aid never paid. I settled both the bills. A week ago I recieve letter from Debt collector saying I was owing Entabeni hospital R28.16 out patient stock & R661 procedure room emergency =R689.16. I went to hospital to query what was R661 procedure room for and I was told it was for 10mins my son spent while being nebulised. and that the standard rate for every paitent. But did it had to be R661 for 10mins most it he was holding it himself.
