13 YEARS OF MEMBERSHIP

After being with Discovery for the past 13 years and being on Classic Comprehensive, I decided to change to Essential Comprehensive as I was over insured. When filling in my form, I erroneously ticked Classic Core. I only realised this after my family's first visit to the doctor and then the pharmacy, when I was told I had no funds. On enquiry with Discovery, they advised me that I was on Classic Core. I checked my option change form and realised what I had done! I contacted my broker who in turn contacted Discovery. After explaining my sob story to them, the response I got was "We looked at the members email and also looked at the YER communication from the employer and there is not enough "Evidence" for us to warrant an upgrade request." I tried the call centre and was advised that I could not upgrade either. When I tried to explain that I had made an error, I was politely told, that this is an upgrade and the Medical Board, or whatever, said you can only upgrade towards the end of the year. After asking if 13 years of membership means nothing and asking if my only option was to change medical aid service providers, I was told that that is an option. So is that my only option?
