On 6/2/13 I had an optometrist appointment at Mellins in Bethlehem. Just before I left the receptionist told me that I only have R 495 available for my spectacles. I told her it can't be. I told her not to proceed let me first phone Fedhealth. I phoned Fedhealth on the 6/02, I spoke to a bloke asking him how can this be right as on the medscheme member website my benefit is R 2560, he told me that I don't need to worry, the claim will be paid, Mellins must just submit. I then told Mellins to proceed. Looking on their website they stipulate your benefits for the year, thus is this information misleading and no use. I understood this website as follows to the example below:
BENEFITS
Dentistry = R 17100 Used R 0 Available R 17100
Optical = R 7 680 Used R 4 239.10 Available R 3440.90
So the list goes on. After this bloke told me last week that I don't need to worry (Fedhealth please trace your call) I know need to pay R1220 towards my spectacles. Website thus misleading, Employee didn't do his job properly. Employee gave me an unnecessary cost. Fedhealth!
