The CHOPD Department has become worse and worse over the years. Filled with student Doctors who are more concerned with chatting to their peers, overseeing each other patients for their own learning and parents time than assisting the dive children that fill the Children's Ward. Day in and out you wait nothing less than 4hours to collect a file, get your child's BP and finally see a Doctor. Consultation period tales nothing less than 45mins at a time of which a whole lot of up and down on the corridors by the Doctors are evident. One cannot only bring a child on set pre-appointed day, kids get very sick unplanned. Sometimes after having seen a Doctor your child does not becomes better. The policy at Addington Children's Ward is no matter how sick your child is, if they don't have an appointed, they will be seen last. This is grossly inhumane especially for a public medical care provider whose purpose is to serve. My child twice now, has waited in that queue for over 4hrs, waiting to see a Doctor bcoz it was not her appointment date. Because she was too sick but it was not her appointment so she can wait. She has an infection, a fever, hasn't been eating fur days. A Crisis Centre patient that's since been getting different medication trying to clear an infection that's still a problem to date. It's utterly disappointing how heartless this Hospital has become. It lives by no recognisable care standards. Yes we are here because we cannot afford medical aids, but it doesn't mean we don't wish our kids good healthcare. CHOPD used to provide this. Now they just don't care... To think my Mom gave so many years to this Hospital, to the Maternity Ward and this Ward itself for it to just be like this today is sad.
