We looked at Msinsi Holdings website for accommodation in December 2012. We wanted a quiet place (nature reserve) & not too far from Durban (day trips to the beach with a boat). After having various queries answered, we decided to book into Shonwgeni Dam & Nature Reserve. We were told there is parking for the ski-boat (about 20m away from the tent), they would supply another mattress for the 3rd child (not done). We were asked to pay in full before arriving for the 11 days. This was going to be a treat for us, tents on stilts on the waters edge in a game reserve - perfect, until we arrived. There is no parking in the tented area, just the end of the road. Our tent was over 100m from the "parking". The peaceful picture of a game reserve was ruined by the site of campers drinking alcohol, playing loud music & dancing. They dont mention that you have to drive through a location to get to the reserve - the electric fence was damaged & there were already suspicious people looking into the campsite. A 1m fence into the dam which is easy to swim around is not secure. The tents are awful & the bathrooms are dingy & disgusting. We were only refunded 50%. This is expensive & unacceptable.
