Rude and pathetic customer service

So you pay about R40 000 a year for medical aid you practically never use (what does a hospital look like?)

Now you're having a baby and need some really basic info: if I have a home delivery (instead of a R60 000 cesarean) and the midwife charges X amount. Under code "y" how many rands are covered by my medical aid?? Difficult question apparently since many emails and hours on the phone were summed up by a person from "claims" calling me and telling me to call the maternity department! From whom I had been transferred to claims! She interrupted me and told me she was calling me and I had to listen to her, then repeated her stupid statement and hung up.

It grieves me to think I pay this useless representatives salary! If I tell you I have spoken to Maternity and they could not give me the cost back referral is not a viable option, GEMS needs to get their act together and have the capacity to escalate queries to a person that can communicate between the SEPARATE companies that they outsource their different departments to.
