I treated my friend to a dinner at Ciao Baby Cucina in Tyger Valley last night. I'd never eaten there before and my friend agreed to be the "guinea pig" with me.
We were served by Lizi. Lizi is an amazing person. She is very knowledgeable of her products and is very honest about portion sizes, "hotness" of curries, and so on. She has a genuine smile, not the fake "finishing school" types so often seen. And she was patient with us as we considered the vast selection of meals on offer.
The food is very tasty and well presented. The Durban Curry could be hotter, though. Lizi did offer to bring some chopped chillies, which I accepted, but even those were not really that hot. The meat is exceptionally tender and absolutely perfectly prepared, although there could be a bit more of it.
The selection of food is so vast that they have two menus, one for Italian style and one for South African style. And by all accounts, the dishes are all excellent!
The prices are similar to that of a fine dining restaurant, which is a bit high for regular dining, but is acceptable for the occasional treat. The decor is lovely!
Over all, I plan to return. Hopefully to be served by Lizi!
