I am totally discussed and disappointed in discovery health medical aid. We have on the various Discovery plans in the last 10 years and they always paid my claims. We are currently on the Ess Delta Core plan and do not claim that often. I have a chronic condition that is on the minimum prescribed condition list and Discovery confirmed that they will pay for the medication and doctors consultations. I went to the doctor for the first consultation and paid it myself (R1500) with the intention to claim it back. But when I submitted the claim they said that there is a amount from 2008!! that I still owe them and they are not going to reimburse me.. This is outrageous!!! Why am I only hearing about this now?? 5 years later!!! I have had other claims during this period that they have paid without a fuss!!! R1500 is a lot of money that I do not have. Especially this time of the year. It is totally unacceptable. They should have contacted me and I would have made plans to pay it off!! I am definitely looking for another medical aid!!
