DISCOVERY HEALTH - REFUSAL TO ASSIST IN PAYMENT

I was in hospital on 25 October 2013 to receive an apicectomy for a recurring abscess. I was forced by Discovery to pay a deductible amount of R3650 prior to the procedure and was informed that the procedure would be covered. Discovery have now short paid the surgeon by R1800 and are refusing to allow me to escalate my complaint further, according to Kosi, the client services manager, there is "no way I can escalate my complaint and that I have gone as far as I can go". I cannot accept the condescending way in which he spoke to me and cannot accept that there is no way I can have my so called 'service provider' assist me in correcting this immense wrong doing. I cannot believe that Discovery can expect the average person to pay almost R2000 per month for their policy and then still expect them to pay a further R5500 for a dental procedure that was only performed as a last resort due to other treatment being unsuccessful. Discovery are in possession of all my documentation requesting their assistance, and yet all I have received is a slap in the face for being a loyal policy holder since I was 21. Why anyone would join Discovery is beyond me, they have no concern for your wellbeing.
