I am with Medihelp Medical Aid, Dimension Prime 3 Option. On the 1ste of October I had to have a cycste removed from my right breast. A few days before the operation I received a email with the autorisation forms etc. Nowhere did they inform me that if there where to be extra costs from the doctor/hospital or anesthesiologist side, I was responsible for it. Neither did I ask them if there would be any extra costs, because I am on the second best plan they have, which is FULL coverage. The operation then took place on the 1st of Oct, and all went well.2 Weeks later I started getting bills. After a very long conversation with my Medihelp's helpline, I was told that they only cover a certain amount of the bills. The whole operation cost almost R10 000, of that, they only covered R3000.Since being on this Medical aid for 3 years, this was the FIRST operation anyone has had. They are now trying to put it back on me saying I didnt ask if there would be any extra costs and that I am responsible for the almost R7000 bills. NO ONE even let me know beforehand that there would be extra costs. Now I ask you, what is the use of a FULL coverage medical aid, if they only pay a certain amount of the costs??
