On Saturday the 12th of October at approximately 14h30, a group of friends and I visited the Tokara Wine Estate to attend a wine tasting.
We entered the wine tasting venue and we stood directly at the counter. We received no attention whatsoever - even though other customers who had arrived later than we had were served. We waited 15 minutes till I finally call out ALOUD for assistance - we were then informed by one of the wine stewards (let us call him wine steward 1) that we would be assisted shortly. While I am not an Afrikaans speaker - I distinctly heard wine steward 1 - ask wine steward 2 to assist us but he also shrugged his shoulder. I was then informed again that I would receive help in due course - to which I responded "hopefully before Christmas". After almost half an hour of no service we left. I will never go back there - I am currently in the process of selecting a venue for my wedding and Tokara is certainly off my list.
What makes matters worse is the venue was not that busy at the time and secondly OTHER individuals who walked in after we did got served. What a terrible experience, it may possibly be because we were all black ladies. One never knows!
