In May 2013 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Quite a shock but it is the hurdles that Discovery Health has set up that is not conducive towards recovery. Although duly registered and authorised for the "Oncology Basket" from the date of diagnosis, I have spent the last 4 months being inundated with "Accounts Rejected" and this has resulted in many wasted hours visiting the relevant practioners and our Discovery broker, all of whom have been most helpful but with no joy from Discovery. Due to the position of the tissue which lead to the diagnosis, the oncologist recommended an intrathecal chemotherapy and this request was declined three times. Finally an employee from Discovery contacted me to say that the request had been declined and when I questioned the reason, I was told that the "Financial Board" had made the decision. On querying the competency of the Financial Board to decline a porphylactic treatment strongly recommended by the oncologist, the employee merely repeated her statement that it was the Financial Board's decision.
