I am on the Keycare Plus plan which offers a specialist benefit to you and your dependants annually! I never make use of my medical aid, except for when I visit my GP of which he is paid a measley rate of R102.00 for ever consultation because he is a network GP. The ONE time a year i need to see my specialist (BECAUSE A GP CAN NOT ASSIST ME) you have to send a letter of motivcation! REALLYYY!!! Then they look for every reason why it CAN'T BE APPROVED! If a GP is expected to perform the job of a specialist, Why the do Dr's even study to be a specialist in their field??? To top it all off, their call centre consultants are a bunch of parrrots reading scripts all day, and answers " Well I'm sorry Mrs X, those are our rules". My advise to anyone ever considering Discovery Medical Aid is to run as quick as possible in the other direction. Take your premiums to an institute that can actually provide you with benefits for whay you pay for!!!
On top of my monthly premium, I have to pay CASH FOR ALL MY MEDICATION, AS IT SO HAPPENS THAT EVERY SCRIPT I GET IS NOT ON THEIR LIST!
