Liberty Medical Scheme
HIGHER PREMIUM ON HIGHER PLAN - LESS BENEFITS

November 2012 I phoned Liberty medical scheme to upgrade my plan. I needed more benefits and cover for operations and medication. They did the upgrade and informed me the new plan will cost R400 more. When I got the new card in January 2013 and used it for the 1st time, everything was fine because it went through on my savings account. Now 4 months later I must pay cash because the savings was used up. They cancelled my cronic benefit. They informed me that I must pay cash for my medication or go to a government hospital. I phoned them to query this, and they said I must write a letter which I did and faxed it through on the same day. This was May 2013. No response from Liberty. I am a 73 year old lady who took out a medical aid not to go to government hospitals and not to pay cash for medication because I pay a premium of R1400 which was suppose to cover me for everything. Why would I upgrade and pay more to go sit at a government hospital and loos all the benefits off the old plan??? I never payed in a cent on the old plan. Apart from the monthly premium of R400 it cost me an additional R1000 for medication. I am a pensioner, I cannot afford this!!! NO RESPONSE FROM LIBERTY!
