Fedhealth Medical Scheme
Having to remove Daughter from our Medical Scheme

Please explain how the system can be correct if you are able to have a boyfriend or girlfriend living together as dependents on your Medical Aid if you are not able to have a child who is still semi dependent on you and family on your Medical Aid benefits.

This just does not make any sense whatsoever as the boy or girlfriend may leave at anytime as this is a temporary arrangement but a child living in your home is declined. When this question is put to the consultants we are to contact the response is that the child earns more than a Pensioners income, but this is surely the same for an unmarried couple staying together.

The impression received is that Fedhealth are looking for ways to make additional income from enforced sources hence we had our daughter enroll with an alternative medical aid which again was cheaper than what Fedhealth offered for the same type of plan by nearly half.

Does this make any sense?

Looking forward to hearing further from you.

Andy Tiley
