Today was the launch of the new iStore in Sandton, Johannesburg South Africa. I was drawn to the store via a radio commercial where an employee at the new store positioned the promotional items.
Being a avid Apple fan and longstanding Apple owner, I hastily made my way to the new iStore, albeit fighting traffic in Johannesburg to get there before 6pm. Upon arrival I was informed by Sarika Chetty, store manager that the Macbook Air priced at R7000 was out of stock. This is exceptionally disappointing as I was drawn to the store based on information relayed by a staff member on national radio.
I was prepared to make payment and await the arrival of stock. This proposition too could not be met.
I see this as poor customer service, false advertising and deceitful image to the brand that is hedging to broaden its footprint in the developing continent of Africa.
