Nikon lens left for repair quote at Camera Clinic, Musgrave Durban. Great pains were made to ensure that the client is made aware of a R200 "rejected quote" charge. I advised staff that I had a quote for a new replacement lens, of R1490.00. A repair quote was emailed for R1885.00 early the day after handing in, R395 higher than the new price.
I suspect that this is the way this company does business. I suspect that they quote over a new price, hoping that the customer will a) reject the quote and Camera Clinic earns R200 for free, b) have not even looked at the item in detail, c) try and dispose of other second items out of thier shop as replacements, d) then repair the clients article and sell it off as thier own thus, stocking thier shelves with unethically obtained goods.
