Gorilla glass?

Dropped my note 2 on the carpet with hardcover on and the glass cracked. So what happened to gorilla glass? Top of the range phone cant handle a small drop with out damaging the glass and to top it off Samsung says the the glass is not covered by warranty. But the best part is that Samsung is prepared to replace the glass twice on the new s4??? So come on Samsung sort this matter out or is the glass an inferior part of the phone
