Apple South Africa
Macbook too much for Apple employees

I recently had a problem where an SD card broke off in my Macbook SDcard slot, leaving part of it stuck inside the slot when I removed the card.

On a visit to SA, I went to the iStore in Centurion, thinking that, instead of running the risk of damaging my MacBook, I would rather let the professionals have a go. No professionals were to be found at this store, however.

A relatively friendly bloke came to ask if I needed help. I explained the situation and he walked with me to where the 'tech support' desk was situated. Firstly, I don't think any of the tech support crew on duty were too bothered about working, as they were telling each other jokes and generally chattering away. The one tech guy that did attempt to look at the computer, managed a very intelligent: 'Are you sure it's still in there? '

The guy who originally offered to help was standing by and said that he does not think sending it away (to real IT guys, I guess?), would make a difference. But if I could take it back to where I bought it, maybe they could help. When I said that I bought it in the States, he excitedly replied: 'Yes, they will know what to do.'

What a waste of my valuable time.
