I contacted Apple today to find out whether it would be possible to purchase memory to upgrade my Macbook Pro from 4GB to 8GB of DRAM. First of all, they do not sell RAM to customers... BIG problem - and they don't hold any stock either. So what you need to do is to take your Macbook Pro to their facility at Sandton drive, book it in, leave it for ten days and they will order the RAM for you and install it on your behalf. Wait... WHAT???!!! TEN DAYS???!!! Not, "you can wait while we install the DRAM" - NO!! You have to be unproductive for up to 10 days at your place of work while we install the RAM!!! I mean, on the internet there is even instructions on [URL Removed] on how to do it yourself!!! What is so difficult about removing screws from the backplate and installing the RAM??? I should have never migrated to Apple - their PROPRIETARY LOCK-IN methods is sickening and it gives them the right to be arrogant. Watch me throw away my iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro!!
