My name is Ipeleng Lehabe. I have a diploma in chemical engineering from Vaal University of Technology. I applied for B-tech at TUTearly this year, in February to be exact for July intake. Their requirements from their prospectus for B-tech are a 60% average on my academic record for diploma subjects, which I have. Their intake as shown on their prospectus is January/July. They rejected me for B-tech but I qualify in all aspects. I called to ask why and they told me that it was because it was full or I didnt qualify. I went to them personally to find out the real reason because I knew I qualifed. They then told me that it was because its full, cause I qualify. I asked them to consider me for next year January 2014 and they took my things to the HOD, I called the next day and I was told I will not be accepted because our syllabus is different. They have been taking students from Vaal to do their B-tech so I really dont underrstand why they are refusing to take me. Please help me in this matter as I want to further my studies and TUT is the only convinient tertiary institution I can attend. I really dont understand why they are giving me a hard time because i am from aonther institution.
