Facelift Flooring, who trade as Woodstrippers CC, were contracted, as per insurance claim, to repair my wooden floors which had been water damaged. The job was paid for in full before work commenced. The job was supposed to begin on Monday 11 Feb but following excuses by the company that their vehicle's brakes had failed they only began on 14 Feb. In preparation for the job I had to pack up half my flat including my office. I work from home so this was a major inconvenience.
After the job was reportedly finished I returned to my flat on 16 Feb to find that large gaps between parquet tiles (up to 1cm), filled with unsightly filler, filler smeared over surface of parquet tiles and then sealed over, 3 vertically displaced tiles and gashes in the skirting board. In addition, I found that a bottle of Calvin Kline perfume and a stanley knife, both left in the bathroom, were missing.
After my complaints, the crew returned on Monday 18 Feb to address my specific concerns. I had to oversee the workers, as the supervisor, Nathan, was decidedly inept. They fixed the displaced parquet tiles and attempted to fix the seal. The job is now "complete" but entirely dissatisfactory.
